Abstract

This research explores the mastering techniques used in modern Dubstep production to increase loudness without sacrificing dynamic range. As the genre continues to evolve within the context of the loudness war, producers face the challenge of maintaining energy and impact while preserving musical depth. Through analysis of mastering methods such as limiting, dynamic clipping, and bus mastering, the study identifies how perceived loudness differs from measured loudness and why psychoacoustic factors play a crucial role in the listener’s experience. Practical tests revealed that bus mastering, combining grouped processing and controlled limiting, offers the most effective balance between power and clarity. The findings demonstrate that achieving competitive loudness in Dubstep is possible without excessive compression, emphasizing the importance of cohesion, perceived loudness, and dynamic preservation in contemporary mastering practices.
